Obituary of Mitzi Karen Troxler

Mitzi Karen Troxler passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. She was 66 years old. Born on Aug. 12, 1955 in Whitwell, Mitzi spent a lifetime defying expectations. Born with Down syndrome, doctors told the family Mitzi would never be able to perform basic everyday tasks. She spent every day of her six-plus decades on this planet proving the doctors wrong. Mitzi lived a full and vibrant life, surrounded by love. She was a deeply devoted Elvis fan who serenaded family members with her favorite songs at every opportunity. She loved cuddling babies and snuggling pets. Her enthusiasm for a good meal was second to none and her dance moves were the stuff of legend. She was a loyal friend, a woman of faith, a thoughtful caretaker and the main character in countless family stories. We are all better people for having had her in our lives and we’ll miss her forever. Mitzi was predeceased by her parents, G.W. and Lucille Troxler; a sister, Brenda Carol; and her brother, George Robert. She leaves behind two sisters, Sandy Agardy and Janice Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle, followed by a graveside service and interment at Fall Creek Cemetery in Gruetli-Laager.
