Billie Faye Hampton Myers, age 89, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022. She was born in Dunham, Kentucky, the daughter of the late George H. and Mattie Griswold Hampton, and was a graduate of Grundy County High School. Mrs. Myers was a devoted wife of 68 years of the late John K. Myers, Sr., mother of five and grandmother of eight, preparing countless delicious meals and sewing lovely dresses, shirts, doll clothes, quilts and other household items. In support of her family she served as a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, and a member of the PTA and band boosters. She was a longtime member of Tracy City First United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school secretary, church treasurer, choir member, and was active in the Wesleyan Service Guild and United Methodist Women. She was also treasurer for several years of both the Grundy County Family and Community Education Club (FCE) and the Ladies Memorial Society. Her other community activities included volunteering at the Grundy County Food Bank and membership in the Grundy County Historical Society. She had a keen interest in genealogy and over the years compiled several volumes of hers and her husband’s family histories. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother George H. Hampton, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Billy) Tiller; sons John, Jr. (Betty), Steve (Debbie), Sam (Beth) and Chris Myers; grandchildren Julia Tiller (Shea Flint), John III, Scott, Jamie, Jay, Clinton (Molly Grace), Lydia and Kent Myers; sisters Dottie Hilton, Judy (Ronald) Crabtree; brother Jim (Cheryl) Hampton; sister-in-law Ann Myers; many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. The family wishes to thank Debbie Meeks for her faithful and loving care of our mother for the past three years. The family will receive visitors Monday evening, February 28, from 5 pm until 8 pm CST at Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City. Funeral services will be held at Tracy City First United Methodist Church Tuesday, March 1, at 2 pm, with the Rev. Danny Coffelt officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or to the Grundy County Food Bank. Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.
