Obituary of Silas Lafayette Custer Jr.

Silas Lafayette Custer born May 20, 1940 in Sewanee, Tennessee died December 18, 2021.
He is preceded in death by his parents Silas Lafayette Sr. and Nora Custer and brother James Anderson Custer.
He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Custer, sons, Silas Lafayette Custer, III.(Lisa), and Bryan Custer(Amy). Grandchildren Peige (Doug) Vaughan, Hunter Custer and Hannah Custer, Mathew Fults; great-grandchildren Payton and Devyn Vaughan; sister, Daisy Jo(David) Ellis.
Silas served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. The Air Force trained Silas in appliance repair and he would often solicit "dead" appliances to see if he could revive them.
He returned to the mountains and started his own business, Eagle Appliance Service and remained there until his retirement in 2003 when his son Bryan took over the business.
He enjoyed going fishing and hunting with his sons and many friends.
He enjoyed going to the local diner daily for breakfast with friends and family.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 5:00 – 9:00 PM, at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 21, at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home with Pastor Arnold Schnell officiating. Burial will follow at Monteagle Cemetery.
