I knew you as my brother-in-law, "Nugie". Thirty eight years ago, you married my sister Babette and took on the role of father, raising your step-daughter, Rebecca, as your own.
The last twenty seven years of your marriage, you and my sister have been caring for both of my aging parents, in your home. Mom passed away 5 years ago. Daddy is now in his mid - 90's and requires around-the-clock care.
You coordinated the Marine Toys for Tots in Sumter and helped my sister run a large children's day care center. You both are the most loving and compassionate people I have ever known, always caring for other's needs over your own.
Thank you Nugie for you service to our country, your family, my family, my sister, the children and to the Sumter community.
I've always thought of you as an angel. I know you are for sure now.
I love you.
