Mrs. Evelyn Ann Barry Jacobs, age 92, of Midway, was surrounded by her family as she departed from this life on Friday, December 10, 2021. Evelyn was born in Midway to Arthur C. “Daddy Barry” and Sarah Ann “Mama Pete” Barry. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clyde E. Jacobs; son, Kenneth B. Jacobs; brothers, William E. “Bill” Barry and Ross T. Barry; nephew Wade E. Shetters; and daughters-in-law Angela Leigh Jacobs and Becky Coutta Jacobs. Survived by sons Jerry R. (Carlette) Jacobs of Midway, Dennis Ray (Janet) Jacobs of Midway and Tommy (Gloria) Jacobs of Monteagle; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jacobs of Jasper; siblings James A. (Judy) Barry and Patricia J. (Martin Shetters); grandchildren Jim R. Jacobs, Timothy C. (Sallie) Jacobs, Sam F. (Renee) Jacobs, Raelessa B. (Joey) Porter, Lanette (Stacey) Fults, Kenneth A. (Chrissy) Jacobs, Billie E. Jacobs, Jerry K. Jacobs, Thomas R. (Erin) Jacobs and Kimberly (Austin) Holen; great-grandchildren Dennis W. (Lori) Jacobs, Carla A. (Joshua) Green, Eliza L. Jacobs, Cassidy Jones, Madisen R. Porter, Avin J. Porter, J. Quinn Porter, Nikki B. Wiley, Colton Jacobs, Jori Jacobs, Bianca Jacobs, Brionna (Wesley) Cleveland, DeAndre Hill, Emma Jacobs, Audrey Jacobs, Kimberly Holen and Kaitlin Holen; great-great-grandchildren Carmen S. Green, Josie J. Green, Reagan Jackson, Aubrionna Cleveland, Asher Cleveland and Baby Jacobs on the way (Dennis & Lori); several nieces and nephews, as well as her best friend, Evelyn Taylor. With the humblest of hearts, Evelyn spent her life serving and caring for others. Together with their boys, Evelyn and Clyde, owned and operated Midway Market. She was a dedicated nurse and co-worker at Emerald-Hodgson Hospital for many years. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Hospitality Shop and Senior Citizens Center. Evelyn loved to laugh and play. She enjoyed burning leaves and trash, being out in the sun, gardening, Sunday suppers, spending time with her family and friends, thrift shopping and Dairy Queen with Trish, red fingernail polish, mowing the grass, reading and going to church. Evelyn stood proudly beside her family and friends with an unmatched, unwavering kind of love that will be so dearly missed. A service will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Freddie Harris officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Harrison Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. till time of service at 1:00 P.M. Online memories and condolences can be shared at www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net. In lieu of gifts, donate to charity of choice. Some of her favorite charities were St. Jude, Ronald McDonald House, Shriners, and the Niemann Pick Foundation.
