Obituary of Dorothy Amy Edwards Fisher

October 27, 2021, Dorothy E. Fisher, loving daughter, wife, mother of six children, grandmother to seven, and great grandmother to five, earned her heavenly wings and went to be with her Maker.
Dorothy was born on September 15, 1926 in Anniston, Alabama. She met and married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Leroy Fisher, Jr. at Alabama Polytech Institute (now Auburn University), Auburn, Alabama. Both were graduates of API. They were proud parents of Patricia Marie, Robert Paul, Phillip Benedict, Peggy Ann, Peter Karl, and Pamala Joyce. Dorothy was a well known dog trainer, having earned placements for two of her English Bulldogs into the Bulldog Hall of Fame. She was also proud and very supportive of her husband’s career in the United States Marine Corps.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Lt. Col. Richard L. Fisher Jr.; mother, Amy Eugenia Wilson Edwards; father, Roy Edwards; sister, Minnie Catherine Edwards Watz; and sons, Robert Paul Fisher and Phillip Benedict Fisher. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Bertha Mae Edwards Chalkley; children, Patricia Marie Fisher, Peggy Ann Fisher Helton, Peter Karl Fisher (Sue), and Pamala Joyce Fisher Elliott (Bill); grandchildren include, Stacey Ann Helton Duhart (James), Steven Guy Helton, Jr. (Sheena), Stewart Richard Helton (Jackie), Anthony James Cragar (Rachel), Amy Nicole Cragar Luzader (Joey), Sudie Alma Marie Fisher, Laura Karlie Ann Fisher; great grandchildren, Zoey Lee Maloy Helton, Guy Richard Helton, Eli Morgan Luzader, Landon James Cragar, and Kinley Grace Cragar.
A burial service for Dorothy will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, November 1st, 2021, at 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, Chattanooga, TN where her husband Richard lies in rest. A procession will leave Cumberland Funeral Home (Foster and Lay Chapel) in Tracy City at 10:00 AM Central Standard Time. A brief service will be conducted by Reverend Casey Scruggs of Christ Church Monteagle will be held at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Monteagle in Monteagle, TN, or the Animal Harbor in Decherd, TN.
