Obituary of William Lyndal Brooks

William Lyndal Brooks, age 81, passed away September 28, 2021. He was born July 17, 1940, in Dunlap TN to Emitt Frank and Sara Nance. He was later adopted by his grandparents, James and Flossie Nichols Brooks also of Dunlap TN. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Nance Adkins, Phyllis Nance Baker, and Debbie Nance Meeks; and brothers, Rick Nance and Bobby Nance. He is survived by his children, William Lyndal (Michelle) Brooks Jr. and Lynda Marie (Shawn Stewart) Brooks; grandchildren, Christopher Brooks, Shawn Stewart II, Sean Brooks, Sara Brooks; two great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Betty) Nance, Wayne Nance, Frankie Nance, John Hensley, and David Hensley. He was of the Methodist faith. He retired from the Army as an E6 Staff SGT and was a member of the VFW and Sons of the Confederacy. Visitation will be held Friday, October 1, 2021, at Cumberland Funeral Home- Tracy City from 10AM-2PM. Funeral services will be held at 2PM with Bro. Claude Hoback officiating. Burial to immediately follow at Welch Chapel Cemetery in Dunlap, Tennessee.
