Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Johnson

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, age 95, passed away July 16, 2021, peacefully in Huntland, TN. She was born February 7, 1926, in Tracy City to Clarence Walden Summers and Bessie Lea (McCreary) Summers who preceded her in death. She was a lifelong member of The First United Methodist Church in Tracy City where she previously sang in the choir and participated in The Methodist Women’s Guild. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Grundy County Board of Education at Tracy City Elementary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Richard Johnson, Sr.; son, Loyd Richard Johnson, Jr.; brother, Clarence Ray Summers; sisters, Johnnie Ruth Guffey, Clara Louise Lankford; and nephews, Neal Guffey, Charles Lankford, and Steven Lankford. Margaret is survived by daughter, Michaele Elaine MacLeod; grandchildren, David Walton MacLeod, Elainna Donnell Platt and son-in-law, Daniel Platt; nieces and nephews, Rodney (Brenda) Phipps, Bonnie (Jim) Miller, and a very special niece, Patricia Phipps. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, at The First United Methodist Church in Tracy City at 3:00 PM with Bro. Danny Coffelt officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held at Cumberland Funeral Home, Foster and Lay Chapel, on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
