Obituary of George Meeks

Mr. George Meeks, Jr., 83, of Tracy City, Tennessee ascended with the angels this Monday April 19, 2021. He was born and raised in Tracy City, Tennessee to the late Wiley Clinton Meeks and Alma Smartt Meeks. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Wilson Meeks; brothers, Clint Meeks and Chet Meeks; sisters, Betty Sue O’Neal, Betty Mae Meeks, Lib Crisp, Mary Jo Meeks and Louise Meeks. George was a coal miner all his life but also enjoyed horseback riding, and fishing and being with his friends in his spare time. But, most of all he loved his family more than anything and his grandbabies were his pride and joy. He is survived by his son Nathan (Charmin) Meeks; brothers, Dave Meeks and Dee Meeks; sisters, Helen Perry, Nadine Sweeny and Pat Birdwell; grandchildren, Nathaniel Meeks, Heather (Dusty) King, and Brandi Meeks; great grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan and Drew; along with several nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 in the Foster and Lay Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Bobby Winton and Bro. Mike Rigsby officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Orange Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City, Tennessee.
