Obituary of Alfred "Big Al" Ludwig

Alfred Shields “Big Al” Ludwig I, of Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, April 19, 2021. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 21, 1950 to the late Tom and Veda Ludwig, Sr., “Al” devoted his life to being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. “Al” was a very dependable, patient, understanding, organized and loving man that “only spoke the gospel”. Nothing about him was fake, when he loved he loved deeply, when he set out to accomplishing tasks, they got completed. Everything that he faced, he gave it all to God. He had been a Knox County Sheriffs Officer and Farmer, who never threw anything away! “Al” will forever be loved and missed by his family and all those who knew him. No words could ever describe the love shared for him. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Colby Perry; brother, Fred Ludwig and one granddaughter, Payton Byers. He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Mary Ludwig; sons, Tommy Perry, Al Ludwig; daughters, Tasha (Shane Gray) Metcalfe, Tonya (Chad) Graves and Kerry (Lewis Gilliam) Metcalf; brother, Bill Ludwig; sister, Elizabeth Rudder; sister-in-law, Lisa and children; grandchildren, Kasey, Madison, Tristian, Cecily, Braden, Brianna, Kourtney and Thomas; special cousins, Betty O’Neal, Leonard Cox and Ray Cox; several special nieces and nephews and other family members. No services are scheduled at this time, however the family plans to hold a private memorial service, to be announced at a later date.
