James William Lowrie, age 80 of Monteagle, Tennessee passed away Thursday March 18, 2021 at Elk River Nursing Home in Winchester, Tennessee. Born on October 7, 1940 in Sewanee, Tennessee, he is preceded in death by his parents Harold Lappin Lowrie and Anna Lee Gossett Lowrie. Jim was a lifelong fisherman and enjoyed nothing more than dropping a line in the water. He spent his career in the printing industry beginning at W.F. Hall Printing in Chicago, IL and retiring from Textile Printing in Chattanooga, TN. His proudest accomplishments were his children. Survivors include his wife, Tana Terrill Lowrie; siblings Bob (Freda) Lowrie and Patricia (Tom) Gunn; children, Beth (Parrish) Cragar, David (Missy) Lowrie, Trina (B.J.) Rose, and Jonathan Ryan Lowrie, grandchildren, Patrick Lowe, Hank Lowrie and Tyler (JuliMay) Rose, Jillian (Tristan) Witt, AJ (Rachel) Cragar, Amy (Joey) Luzader; great-grandchildren Eli, Landon, Dawson, Kinley, Julianna, Trinidy, and Lincoln and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Winchester, TN, Sewanee Skilled Care, and Compassus Hospice for their services, care, and compassion. Funeral services will be held Monday March 22 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held at 11:00 until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Monteagle Cemetery. For the safety of all please remember your mask. For memorial contributions the family has designated, TN Bass Nation High School c\o David Lowrie P.O. Box 7 Coalmont, TN 37313 for the Hunter Northcutt Memorial Scholarship and Mountain Valley Bank, Monteagle, Tennessee for the Margaret Shook Foster Scholarship.
