Obituary of Orpha Jean Myers

Mrs. Orpha Jean Myers age 88, formerly of Monteagle and a resident of Franklin Manor in Winchester for the last several years, passed away peacefully of natural causes Friday, March 12, 2021, at Franklin Manor in Winchester. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Griffith and Julia Harris Shrum and Taylor Shrum; husband, Waldo Myers; brothers, William “Billy” Griffith, Ray Shrum and Donald Shrum; daughter-in-law, Teresa Crabtree Myers and two infant grandchildren, Paul Jacob and Eric. Mrs. Orpha was a Licensed Practical Nurse and was a member of First Baptist Church in Tracy City and was active in church activities where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was active with Right to Life. She and her husband, Russ were members of the Grundy Rotary Club. Survivors include her husband, John Russell Buchan; sons, Stan Myers of Tracy City, Jim and his wife, Pam Myers of Monteagle; grandchildren, Melanie (Todd) Hampton, Kyle Myers, Heather (Frank) McFall, Jr., Beth (Josh) Rudder, Jonathan Myers; great-grandchildren, Laurel van Lone, Harrison van Lone, Jaxon Rudder, Mason Rudder and Haley James; sister, Peggy Gross; brothers, Mike Shrum, David and Houston Shadrick; sisters-in-law, Peggy Griffith and Dola Shrum and a host of nieces and nephews that she thought of as her own. The family wishes to thank the staff at Franklin Manor for their care and compassion while living there. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ben Curtis officiating, Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tracy City. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, Tennessee.
