Obituary of Robert Michael Gilliam

Robert Michael “Smiley” Gilliam passes away peacefully in his sleep at St. Clair Hospital in Lakewood, Washington on February 18, 2021. Michael was born on March 15, 1953 in Sewanee, Tennessee to the late Veron E. Gilliam and the late Betty Jean Ladd Gilliam Ashmore. Michael graduated from Franklin County High School, then joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. After the war, Michael worked for the United States Postal Service in Lakewood, Washington where he retired. Michael is survived by his son Robert (Gabriele Martin), Beck-Gilliam; daughter, Beth Beck, grandson Axel Michael Beck-Gilliam, granddaughters Emma and Harley, grandson, Grayson, adopted daughter Sarah Frany who loved and caried for him, the last few years; sister, Elaine Dadarria Pase, nephew, Jason Dadarria. Niece Elizabeth Pase and several aunts and many cousins. Service will be Saturday, March 6, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, Tennessee with Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
