Obituary of Kimmell "Houston" King

Kimmell “Houston” King, age 69, of Sewanee, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Born September 10, 1951 to the late Leonard and Barbara King, “Houston” enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and ginseng hunting in his spare time. He had been a stone mason by trade and was very creative in design. He enjoyed wood working, specializing in making stocks for gun barrels. “Houston” will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who would do anything for anyone. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by two children; one son Jeffery King and one daughter, Faith King and one brother, Harold King. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Sandra Bennett- King; three sons, Houston “Kim” (Jessica) King, Jr. , Chris (Melissa) King and James Ray “J.R.” (Tracy) King; one daughter, Stephanie (Joey) Marshall; three brothers, Sherman King, Jasper King and Leonard (Anita) King; four sisters, Lois (Fred) Bramlett, Caroline (Joseph) Bennett, Sarah Gunn and Peggy Cash; fifteen grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb, Dalton, Dylan, Zoey, Abbie, Elaina, Charlie, Damon, Dallon, Dalayna, Daxton, Dawson, Kaitlyn and Garrett. A memorial service will be held at Cumberland Funeral Home- Monteagle on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 2PM with Bro. Victor Tiller officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 9AM until time of service. Immediately following, the family invites all friends and family to attend a planned dinner at Midway Baptist Church- 1837 Midway Rd. Sewanee, Tennessee.
