Obituary of Samuel L. Reed

Mr. Samuel L. “Sam” Reed age 54 of Coalmont,TN passed from this life Sunday morning, December 20, 2020, at STRHS in Sewanee. Sam had recently had major heart surgery and had been home only a few days. He was self-employed, he operated a grave service for all the local funeral homes. Before that he had worked for Mark Fults in cabinet making and the grave service. Sam was born February 8, 1966 in Manchester, TN, a son of the late Sam P. Reed and Geneva Wilhite who survives and was preceded in death by a son, little Sam; sister, Geneva Marie; aunts, Fay Turley and Frances Sanders; step-father, Raymond Wilhite; uncle, Bobby (Bat Man) Bateman; grandparents, Vester and Julia Bateman. Sam was a loving son, dad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Survivors in addition to his mother, Geneva Wilhite are a sister, Mary (Frankie) Thomas; son, Chris; nephew, Kenneth (Jessica); aunt, Henrietta Patterson; step-son, Jonathan; special friends Meleah and Caitlyn; several cousins and his dog, Patch. “We Love and Miss You Sammy, Rest In Peace.” A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in Hobbs Hill Cemetery with Ministers, Joe Nunley and Leslie Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. at Cumberland Funeral Home, Foster & Lay Chapel in Tracy City. Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, Foster & Lay Chapel, Tracy City, Tennessee.
