Obituary of James Herman Myers

James Herman Myers Age 80, of Hambden Twp., OH, died at his home on October 1, 2020. He was born in Pelham, Tennessee on May 4, 1940 to James Merrell and Vela Lucille (Nee: Hawk) Myers. He married Betsy Barton on May 31, 1963. Herman and Betsy moved to Hambden Twp. from Collinwood in 1970. Herman was a Tool Grinder for Eaton in Cleveland. He was a member of the Aspinwall Church of God in Cleveland. He enjoyed playing “checkers” with his 7 year old granddaughter and Yahtzee. At his last game with his son Perry, Herman had his highest score ever! He loved to play guitar with his grandson, Zachary. He grew up playing bluegrass music with his family and becoming an excellent guitar player. He loved watching Cleveland Browns football with his son Richard, and above all things, loved his family and all children. Survivors include his sons, Richard (Virginia) Myers of Burton, OH, and Perry (Erica) Myers of Hartsgrove, OH; grandchildren, Zachary (Elizabeth Kehres) Myers of Mentor, OH and Madison Myers of Hartsgrove., OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife in 2009 and a sister, Myrlene Walden. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 116 South St., Chardon, OH 44024. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, Tennessee 37356 Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Pelham, Tennessee with a luncheon to follow at the Campground Church.
