Jimmie Don Weaver b. February 26,2020, d. October 5, 2020 Don Weaver was born into very modest means in Eustis, FL. Growing up in Tavares, FL as the oldest of eight children, he joined Navy as a teenager and served at the end of the Korean War in California and Hawaii, where he began his lifelong love for aviation. After the service he return to Central Florida, started a family and began his career as an automotive and aviation mechanic. He was a quiet and gentle man, who loved taking his family fishing. His family expanded when he met Billie, with whom he retired to Tennessee, and supported her work to maintain an overseas Christian orphanage. Early on he built high performance engines for some well-known drag racers as well as aircraft engines for airboats, including one for Jacques-Cousteau. He also bought, rebuilt and flew damaged airplanes as a hobby and was also a thermal protection specialist for, NASA under the Space Shuttle program. During his retirement years he ran the airport in Sewanne, TN. Don is predeceased by his wife Billie, his son Dennis, and his grandson Israel, and is survived by his children Lauren, Harvey, David, Jim and Lela, 16 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. His mantra was “My job is to love everybody, and let God worry about the details”. Private Service will be held with family.
