Obituary of Donnie Ellen Higgins

Ms. Donnie Ellen Higgins, age 71, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away following a long term illness, on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Born on December 9, 1948 in Manchester, Tennessee, to the late Fred and Sarah Shrum, Donnie had devoted most of her life to being a homemaker and babysitting other’s children, as well as raising her own two sons, which she loved dearly. She enjoyed farming, being outdoors and woodworking in her spare time. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Donnie will forever be remembered as a hard worker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of thirty seven years, Daniel “Dan” Higgins; one brother, Fred Shrum and two sisters, Ruth Sanders Shrum and Mavis Shrum Dove. She is survived by her two sons, Donald (Denise) Higgins and Daniel Higgins; three brothers, Anthony (Rita) Shrum, Marvin (Faye) Shrum and David ( Shelia) Shrum;sister, Saddie Brancefield; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Levi, Kenan, A.J., Cain, Rain and Austin and two great grandchildren, Elliott and Oliver. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 4-8PM at Cumberland Funeral Home-Tracy City. Funeral services will be conducted at the Foster-Lay Chapel on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 2PM with immediate interment to follow at The Shrum Family Cemetery.
