Carl loved to have visitors and was an enthusiastic host. Joe and I were blessed to visit in his home several times through the years. On one of our earliest visits he took Joe for a hike to end all hikes when wearing Sunday clothes and shoes. They returned to the house telling about their climb down into and back up the steep sides of Fiery Gizzard Gulch. Carl was pleased that Joe had been such a trooper. Joe was pleased that he could do it and survive.
Carl was a true friend to our family and a dedicated church member. We will miss him.
Much love to you, Polly, and to all the family. You are in my heart and prayers.

I loved when he visited us in Ohio because he took us running around all over which he so enjoyed especially Lake Erie, and Marblehead light house, and the Lorain Light House. We went everyplace because he loved being on the go. He also enjoyed making us his barbecue, his chili, and his apple dumplings. He loved telling us stories of growing up as a young boy. I could see how much he loved boats, and water, and light houses, and we had it all in our town and surrounding area.We are right on Lake Erie and he seemed to like all of that. He talked about going fishing and about his wood working and making oak cabinets and so many more memories we have all thanks to Uncle Carl. We will remember Uncle Carl because that's who he was someone to always be remembered.I have my own cherished memory from a set of snow angel he gave me to set out at Christmas which I do every Christmas. We will love and miss you Uncle Carl. Rest in Heaven now.Love you, Joyce and Leon Burgess
