Obituary of Doris F Smith

Mrs. Doris F. Smith, 88, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Valley View in Whitwell, Tennessee. She was born on November 21, 1931 in Tracy City, Tennessee to the late Leonard Lyle & Helen Pauline (Shrum) Sweeton. Doris is preceded in death by her former husband Carl S. Smith and Son-in-law, Sherman M. Tate and Brother-in-Law, Everette Hampton. Ms. Smith grew up in the Hobbs Hill Community and was employed as bookkeeper at the Grundy County High School for 34 years. She loved cooking, collecting cookbooks, and was a loyal Tennessee Vols fan. She previously attended both Sweeton Hill Congregational and Hobbs Hill United Methodist. Doris was a loving mother, friend, and grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly. Doris is survived by daughter, Carla Smith Tate of Tracy City, Tennessee; sister, Bettye S. Hampton of Tracy City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Cox of Dunlap, Tennessee, Casey (Tabitha) Tate of Tracy City, Tennessee, Justin Tate of Monteagle, Tennessee, Jordan Tate of Pelham, Tennessee; 7 great-grandchildren and expecting her first great, great- grandchild in February; and several neices and nephews.
