Obituary of William P O'Neal

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, William Perry “Sonny” O’Neal Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend went home to be with the Lord. Sonny was born on February 4, 1947 in Palmer, Tennessee to William Perry O’Neal and Ruth Gipson O’Neal. Later Sonny married the Love of his life Stella. Sonny had a passion for his family, music, church and working with his hands. Sonny was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. Sonny served in the Vietnam War with the United States Air Force. Sonny was preceded in death by his grandparents Jim and Dora O’Neal, grandparents Joe and Nellie Gipson, father William Perry O’Neal, mother Mary Ruth Gipson Smith, stepmother Alma Ruth Walker O’Neal, and 2 sisters Dora Ruth Harkness and Brenda Fay Hunter. Sonny is survived by his loving wife Stella O’Neal, his son Shawn (Chastidy) O’Neal, 4 granddaughters Kaitlyn, Lexie, Maddie and Aubrey O’Neal, 2 grandsons Chase and David Meeks, sister Kay (Paul) Thompson, brothers Robin Lee O’Neal, Billy Jo (Courtney) Anderson and Rickey (Jonie) Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will include Chase Meeks, David Meeks, Brandon Hughes, Vaughn Coppinger, Waymon Coppinger, Paul Thompson, Robin Lee O'Neal, Bill Anderson, Ricky Anderson.
