Obituary of Lewis Layne

Mr. Lewis Edward Layne age 77 of Monteagle, Tennessee passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, a son of the late Ed Layne and Beulah Shrum Layne and was preceded in death by a sister, Renice Curtis; daughter, Judy Curtis. Mr. Layne started working in the coalmines at an early age and then was a truck driver before working as a diesel mechanic for many years before his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Jean Church Layne; children, Larry (Debbie) Layne, Debra (Gene) Whitman, Darlene (Jerry) Seagroves; brothers, Grady, Ronnie, Donnie, and Harold; sister, Doris Guyear; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ernest Lockhart and Reverend John Potts officiating. Burial will be in Pryor Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-9 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gum Springs Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
