My daddy was my THE best friend I ever had. When I needed to REALLY talk to someone, it was him. Growing up I always felt pushed aside or shunned by everyone, but not daddy. When I had NO friends, he was mine. He laughed with me and cried with me. He taught me about the Mountains and how to make it in the woods, along with working on anything that man had made. I remember the long service calls I would go with him on and all the drivers and mechanics calling me "Little Buck".
He would tell me"let's go loafin"and mama wouldn't see us all day! Mama got mad at him one time when he bought me a dirtbike and daddy said he would do what he wanted and she knew it, But I know that was just mama's job. She loves daddy so much she gave in. She didn't want me to get hurt.Daddy would put me on top of an old truck engine, give me some tools and tell me what to do. The men around there would ask daddy if I knew what I was doing and he was SO proud of me, he would say "he does what I tell him". Uncle Statum (papa) was working on some logging equipment once and being little I hit the first big mud hole I could find. Was daddy mad? No way! He laughed and I never felt so blessed to have such a daddy!
Just so EVERYONE can understand how I feel now I must tell you. First he was my father. Second he was my Daddy. He was the only friend that REALLY knew me better than my wife. He was a partner to me when I had no one else. He was my bodyguard, and hero! I know I have lots of loving family that care about me. Daddy made sure of that. Now that he's gone I feel alone without him.
I have never met a man like him anywhere. I love you daddy and miss you SO, SO much!!!
Your son,
Allen

Maybelle and family, I'm so sorry about Buck's passing. He was a giant of a man and always had a wonderful smile. Enjoyed being around him during our family reunions. He will be greatly missed on earth by everyone that knew him. I'm so glad we know where he's at and one day we will see him again. My prayers are with you and all the family during this time and the days ahead! We love you all, Dennis and Norma
