Obituary of Dale Harshman
Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Dale L. Harshman, Sr. age 77, entered into his Heavenly home, Monday, February 16, 2015. He was born on September 3, 1937, to the late Glenn and Ruth Slick Harshman of Winchester, Indiana. He was their ninth child of sixteen. He met and married his lifelong partner, Ruth (Nunley) Harshman in 1958. They moved to the Pelham Valley in the spring of 1962, together they raised four boys. Mr. Harshman was a lifelong member of Campground Free Will Baptist Church in Pelham, where he served as the service leader and as a deacon for many years. He had been employed at Grundy Farmers Co-Op in Coalmont until his retirement in 1997. Due to his love of sports, he proudly kept the game clock for the Pelham Tigers for many years.
Mr. Harshman will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated husband, protective father, doting grandfather and a spoiling great-grandfather. He was a pillar in the Pelham community, he loved people and enjoyed being around them, but the most important things in his life were, God, his family and his church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Ray Harshman; sisters, Katie, Maggie, Mary, JoAnn and Linda; brothers, Tobe, Bill, Robert and Johnny.
Survivors include his dedicated wife, of 56 years, Ruth Nunley Harshman; sons, Dale (Annette), Anthony (Sherry), Brian (Sharon) Harshman all of Pelham and Stacey (Lisa) Harshman of Tracy City; grandchildren, Leslie (Keith) Jacobs, Tullahoma, Timothy Harshman, Brittany (Jess) Roofener, Courtney (Travis) Goforth, Khylee, Gari Harshman and Cassie Walls all of Pelham, Whit (Sarah) of Capitol Hill and Katie Slatton of Tracy City, Elizabeth Walls, Tullahoma; great-grandchildren, Justin, Jackson and Mollie Jacobs, Alexandria Roofener and Isabella Slatton; sisters, Joyce, Mabel, Phyllis and Patty; brothers, Glenn, Jr. and Max Harshman; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Campground Free Will Baptist Church with Brother Brett Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. On line condolences may be made at: www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.
